They intentionally make them suck because no one loves you ...

... I knew it!!!

Ahh the eternal quest for love and perfect imaging.

Stereophile had a theory that good performances= poor recording and poor performances=good recordings.

I think economics play a role, "who can we afford to record?"

I have a single "Audiophile Label" CD: Bachbusters. I like it.

I only have ONE though cuz, as Mike said, the music sucks on most of them. It's recorded well but the content blows.

Sorry to keep this thread off course, but check out any album by The Roots, and Jurassic 5, some good production on those.....

I have to agree Mike. You want to listen to the excellent technicallity of these audiophile recordings, yet you can't help but want to enjoy what you are listening to. AFter all, isn't that was music is about? You tolerate it for about 45 seconds and then go to the next track cuz the music sucks. I have the Focal #5 CD and thankfully there are around 5 songs that I can actually enjoy listening to. Some of the stuff out there though is just whacked!

I have found over the years that as your need for better sounding systems evolves so does the music you listen to, I actually have nothing but my "SQ" cd holder in my car right now and I listen to them all.

Hell I started by blaring Easy E on my 4 15's in my Toyota :D

There are several artists out there that believe that spending the money on recording their music is a worthwile investment. Michael Jackson, Madonna, Celine Dion, Mick Fleetwood, Dennis Deyoung (Styx), Herbie Han****, Garth Brooks, and many others spend a lot of money making sure their albums are recorded the best that they can be. Mick Fleetwood is one of the main people in the industry that has pushed DVD Audio so much, he has or will have rerecorded every thing he has ever touched in DVD Audio format.

I gave up listening to audiophile recordings. They all bore me to tears. I'd rather listen to something excellently produced than the stuff they put out. It all sounds like a mishmash of old video game soundtracks from the 'Nintendo Entertainment System' days.

Michael Jackson may be a bit 'strange' to say the least, but he has got some tunes that are well produced, to say the least. The Madonna stuff is good as is the little fella (Prince) for testing out your system as well. For decently produced rock music, Metallica's Black Album is a must, along with some stuff from the Tea Party and Headstones' 'Smile & Wave'.

Oh, Red Hot Chile Peppers have some great production as well for testing out all parameters of a system.
