Aux direct to amp - No HU

So i'm piecing together a system and i almost have all the pieces picked out. I'm removing a head unit entirely in favor of a tablet that will be mounted indash. It was recommended to me to have an EQ like a 1/2 din audiocontrol three.2 between the tablet and amp.

What say you guys? Any other brands or models or types of equiptment you reccomend to have between the tablet & amp??

You should have something to control volume. A 1/2din EQ is a convenient way to do it. You could also try something like an AC Matrix or Overdrive - they have a remote volume knob available.

Whats wrong with using the volume on the tablet??

Also, if i do use an eq, will i see much of a benefit from using the EQ or is it really only good for volume control? If that's the case, a JL audio RLC might be better.

Also, i don't know what preprocessors are or line drivers are (new to car audio), but would they have a place at all in this type of setup??

It all depends on your budget. I would not use the audio direct out of the tablet. I have yet to see a convenient volume control on one and suspect the preamp voltage would be low.

The JL RLC is another good option. It gives you better preamp voltage and a real volume knob.

Personally, I would be looking at a full preamp EQ/crossover/TA processor like a BitOne, Mosconi 6to8, Alpine H700/701 or similar - not so much because you are using a tablet but to make the system better.

Thanks, i'll look those up. I was planning on implementing a seperate usb unit that integrates with steering wheel controls to control volume on the tablet. Its a unit all the carputer guys use.

1 more question, would a unit like the ones u mention and the ms-8 be overkill for my setup?? Im going to be getting Focal access 165 a3 sg 3 way up front and the focal 165a1 2 way coaxial in the rear with a dayton hf10 sub.

I never think a processor is overkill. To me it is just enough kill. ;)
