Avital 3100 question

I have an avital 3100 installed by the previous owner in my 2005 Ford ranger. I’m trying program it so it won’t chirp on lock and unlock, and turn off the ignition lock feature.

The programming is not behaving like the manual is stating.

The valet button is only turning valet mode on and off.
It is not responding to the multi press and hold programming method that the manual states.

it only responds to the single press which turns the led on or off once. It will not do anything after that first press.

if anyone can help with this issue that would be awesome

-Had this exact same issue occur with the same make/model alarm. Racking my brain trying to figure it out, scoured the internet and this was the only place this issue came up.

The solution is the wrong door trigger input wire from the alarm into the door jamb. There's two wires from the alarm switch, (+) and a (-) wire. Only one has to be used in the door, in my case.

I have both door jambs connected on the same ground line and to the dome light, so when either door opens the dome light turns on. I just connected the correct wire door trigger input wire to that bundle.

You can verify that the correct wire is connected by sitting in the car, no keys in ignition, and locking doors with the remote to set the alarm. Then unlock the door manually (no remote), and open the door. With the correct input wire installed, the alarm should go off. That was my test, anyway.

This page helped me figure it out which correct door trigger input wire to install. Alarm system is able to program correctly now!!!!

Sorry it's an old thread, but I hope this helps. Cheers!
