Batteries

Not sure if this is the right spot, but I am looking for some idea's on batts. I am running a Crescendo 3k, its going to be running at roughly 2500w rms, possibly 4000w if I get another sub. Anyways, I currently have a Kinetik HC1400, looking to get another batt for the rear, not sure if I should get another Kinetik. Need something somewhat cheap. Looking for something under the $300 mark. I got a price on a Odyssey 1500 for $280. I keep reading about these NSB90's, what they run for price and where can you get them. Any suggestions would be great.

do a matching 1400

Spl inc has batteries in the forsale section 2 hc2400 brand new and cheap.

schwarzl 07-02-2010 07:05 PM

So you think that two HC1400's would do the trick? Also I am unable to pm or write in the for sale thread that Spl inc has.

Use the calculator on Kinetik's website and see what they recommend.

All depends on the true RMS of the amps you are dealing with.

What are prices like on the NSB's? Someone said that they are way better than Kinetiks.

drezjdmrx7 07-03-2010 12:05 PM

I'd like to know prices aswell

VanCitySPL 07-03-2010 10:44 PM

IMHO if your considering 4k, 2 hc1400's would not be enough. maybe ok for 2.5k but thats even pushing it.

more info would help, what ohms will you be running at? what kind of alt do you have?

I bought this batt from sonic, shipping was 30$

It will most likely be going in my 1992 VW Eurovan, 0 gauge front to back. Will be doing the big 3 in 0 gauge. The stock alt is a 90 amp, but I will be taking it to a auto electric shop and see what kind of amps they can get out of it. Amp will be running at 1 ohm running 2500w rms and if I get another sub it will be running at .5 ohm pushing 4000w rms. Kinetik HC1400 up front. How do you guys feel about caps? Alot of people dont like them but some people do. I have a Stinger 3 farad cap thats just sitting around, should I throw that in the back with a batt also?

VanCitySPL 07-04-2010 02:19 PM

caps are a waste of money, a proper battery bank is what you need, and honestly you need a H/O alt if your going to be running 4k at .5 ohms, something a local alt shop wont be able to re wind, lol this is where your hobby gets very expensive. 4k is a big commitment my friend, your going need a 200-300a H/O alt, I would suggest either a mechman or a DC Power. your looking at around 400-600$

your going to need at least 2 decent sized batts in your trunk and one under the hood to be able to keep up at with the amount of draw 4k daily @ .5 takes

luke99 07-04-2010 02:21 PM

not a good idea to daily drive at .5 ohm if you were burping with 2 1800s you would be ok

VanCitySPL 07-04-2010 02:30 PM

^ your in duncan? check yo pms

luke99 07-04-2010 02:34 PM

checked and replied

schwarzl 07-04-2010 07:33 PM

Well I was hoping to see if I could make some custom mounts up to mount a ford or chevy 1 wire alt, because they are quite a bit cheaper than the VW ones. Also like I said, will only be running at .5 ohm if I get the other sub, if not than 2500w rms @ 1 ohm. The amp is stable at .5 ohm and I understand that a high output alt would be needed for that.

VanCitySPL 07-04-2010 07:51 PM

ok, well just consider if you get an alt you mine as well get one that will last, and one that could keep up to 4k, because we all know how addicting bass is and we all know your most likely your going to get that other sub. your best to buy a nice big alt now....just sayin'

if I was you, id call matt @ mechman 1.888.mechman hes very knowledgeable, honest, and will get you the best price on a very reliable alt.

schwarzl 07-05-2010 11:14 AM

I was looking at the Mechman 1 wire alts that they have. I have got to see if I can get it too fit, VW shiza is so tight, and its a small case Bosch, I talked to Matt before and he couldn't do anything for my Jetta because its just to tight to get anything bigger in there.

VanCitySPL 07-05-2010 01:03 PM

damn thats a shame my friend. good to know for future car buys. any idea if all vee ddubz are like this?

schwarzl 07-05-2010 04:10 PM

Its not like that for all VW's, but if it has the VR6 than its hard to get something, you can get a alt from Iraggi but its well over $500, for that price you can get way more amps for that money in a gm or ford 1 wire. You can get 180 amp alts for the 1.8l and 2.0l 8valve engines that were used in some Jetta's and Golf's from Motor City Reman.
