Battery

I went to my installer and he told me that whit the power i have ether my alternator will give in in 1 year or my batterie will die. He told me that i should by a yellow optima battery (this one is 350$) wondering if this is really worth it...isint a new alternater pretty much the same price? will it make a diffrence? is their better brands of battery for the bucks?
here the link if people dont know what i am talking about

p.s my system is a 1000 rms alpine MRD-M1001, 2 infinity kappa perfect subs a monster cap (1farad), 4 gauge wiring kit in a 2003 alero if this is of any help

Do the Big 3, and be prepared to replace your stock Delco....it is 4 years old anyways,, and that's about all they're good for.

$350 is very over priced. Someone is making out like a bandit. Sam's Club Canada sells them for like $165 group 34 I believe too.

As for a warranty I think it depends on where you buy the battery from.

Also, quit being a and do the big 3 yourself.

If your installer doesn't know what it is, or what it does, he probably isn't a very knowledgeable and/or competant installer. It's about $30 of wire, and $6 of connectors, and $4 of solder. You need a bench vice, a brazing torch, and some rosin core solder. Stick one of the connectors into the vice. Melt solder into it. While solder is melted stick one end of a cable in there. Repeat until you have all 3 cables needed to do the big 3. Then take 20 minutes out of a sunday afternoon, grab a beer, and install with a buddy. Enjoy!
