I was wondering if replacing my battery would help my situation....

I have a ****ty Energizer under the hood and it seems to have a hard time maintianing voltage/supplying the power necessary. Im just worried because I dont want the voltage to ever drop below 12v (again - like it does now) - if possible.

I still have to upgrade my wire from my alt to my battery, but im assuming the stock alt is only like 100amp and Im not replacing it unless I absolutely have to. Im not competing or anything.

Amps are fused for 110amps total.

What batteries do you recommend? I was thinking optima yellow top, but is there anything for less that would do the job just as well?

Thanks!

The energizer was bought about a year ago. How do I check the water level? I know nothing about LeadAcid batteries, all my electrical knowledge lies elsewhere.

I am going to upgrade the wires and check all connections first, but most of them were all cleaned and tightened this summer when i did the ground from block to chasis, and battery to chasis.

What is the difference between the red top and yellow top?

Thanks!

How many CCA is that Orbital? And is it a deep cycle or regular starting battery like a Red Top?

Oribtal's are identical in design to Optima's, Orbital's came out when the ten year patent that Optima had on the cylindrical designs ran out. Orbital's last as long as, or longer than Optima's, and far fewer fail under warranty than Optima's do. Orbital's have a better warranty than Optima's do. Orbital's are cheaper too.

Orbital's are made by Exide, you can read specs about them through www.exideworld.com

Red-top Optima's are for starting applications.
Yellow-top Optima's are for deep-cycle applications.

Black top Orbital's are for starting applications.
Blue top Orbital's are for deep-cycle applications.
Black top Orbital Extreme's are designed for stereo applications.

I sell both Orbital's and Optima's, and have for over ten years. Orbital's are more reliable, cheaper, and have better warranties that are easier to get done. I use them in my own van.

Could I run two batteries without an isolator? or would I be better off with JUST an orbital? I dont worry about keeping my V very high, just that it doesnt drop to levels where my amps could blow.

THanks!

The exide extreme orbital(also known as the purple haze) can be purchased at any canadin tire store and is 180 plus tax plus batt taxes. we sell them for 160 all taxes uncluded. not sure if any one sells them at a more affordable price than that but we sell them at that much. the blue tops are 150 taxes included http://www.exideworld.com/products/t...utomotive.html to see them all
