Best 10" shallow sub
Just bought a new truck and can't fit my old subs. What is the best shallow 10 for the money?

I've got a 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 and ran into the same problem, I used to have 2 10" MTX subs (can't remember the details about the subs) But now I have two JL Audio 10W1v2-4. They are very shallow subs. I have a Kicker ZX 300.1 pushing them and they hit HARD.

I've found Alpines Type-R shallows to be my favorite so far.

If you can fit or afford it, the JL 13.5" W5's are great subs.. but only if you wanna spend that much :)
Really, the best bang for buck slim sub depends on what you want. If you are after getting loud bass, get Kicker CVT's. If you want cleaner sounding bass, the JL W1's are excellent shallow subs. If you can afford it and wanna have the best of both, get the slim Alpine Type R subs. The Type R's retail for $599 in Canada but the cost on them is usually at 50% of that at retailers, so haggle of course! |
I have used the MTX TT6510-04 a couple of times in rediculously small prefab boxes and was very impressed with the output. Not cheap but not expensive either. Nice woofer overall.

I have had some great success with the Kenwood Excelon 10" shallow subwoofers, as most shallow subwoofers are awful at lower frequenciesm this one does a great job given its pricepoint. If your budget allows, the Alpine swrt10 10" woofer is exceptional and sounds better than most traditional non thin woofers

I recently purchased the SWR-T10 that I will be putting into my car's OE enclosure. It's part of a very large project, and it's winter in my area, so I haven't put it in yet. But I have put it in a small box, and played it just to make sure the sub wasn't DOA (purchased online from Sonic Electronix, so just wanted to test it out). Seems to hit pretty hard in a very small enclosure, and had the typical Alpine "technical"/"tight" profile.

depending on how much depth you have, the sundown audio SD-2 is a great performing sub, while it is not a true " shallow" sub it does have a shallow mounting depth, and doesnt suffer the lack of performance most shallow subs do
