But as long as more and more human controlled positions are taken over by automation then items can be mass-produced quicker with less costs. I mean, paying $15/hr to just one employee is over 30k/year roughly, when you can buy one machine that will do that employees job twice as fast and with zero human error.
Aluminum and copper may have went up (IMO not even close to sky rocketed) but just look at the shelves for your answer. Alpine 1000 watt brand new only costs around 500, whereas old Orion amps that were rated at 1200 cost roughly 1200 a few years back.
It's all about Class D vs. Class a/b. Class D is cheaper to make, who cares about the cost of the aluminum on the heatsink? Heatsinks have gotten lighter, considerably smaller footprint and that right there costs less than in the past too.

The first post in this thread asked what amp was best and then said low budget.
Best and budget don't go together. They don't even come close.
How about fairly good and faily inexpensive, maybe a reasonable compromise of price vs. quality.
One suggestion, since i've been looking into some for myself, Pioneer PRS-D3000spl? 1000 wrms@2ohm. there was one only slightly used in the for sale section, don't know if it's gone yet. Do a google search for current pricing.
