Best Double DIN DVD Receiver?

I am looking at purchasing a double DIN DVD player for my car in the near future. My big things are that I don't need navigation, I'm looking for the best audio unit, and I need it to be compatible with my first gen iPhone (don't care about bluetooth, but it does need to have full control of the audio side of it).

I'm not particular to any certain brand. My budget would be $1200 or so tops. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Kenwood DDX814 Should be hitting stores right about now. It's the new Version of the 812. Bluetooth USB, all the fanatastic features you ca chake a stick at..no Nav.

I'd recommend the Alpine IVA-W505.

Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. - IVA-W505

Perhaps the best quality screen in the market (uses F#1 screen) and great control of iPod via USB. Also supports iPod video.

In terms of audio, it's not fantastic out of the box but it has the potential to be hooked up to the Alpine H701/H900 processors (mine will be hooked up to the H701) which will give you near unlimited tuning capability with great sound to match.

They can be had used for roughly $600-$900USD. Great unit I think. Also compatible with the Alpine Blackbird Navs and other hideaway units.

"Alpine...everything is an add on" should be their new company slogan.

or Alpine "We stripped all kinds of useful features to make pricepoints for the big box"

i second the w505 and i sell the kenwood as well, better screen quality and user interface and better expandability with alpine

Hmmm...I have been looking at the W505 for some time now. I never clued in to hooking it up to a processer, that makes my decision that much easier. Bestbuy has it on sale too for 900 bones. Is it iPhone compatible on the music end for sure? Also, can you find new processers, or will I have to look used?

Actually this is the first "which is best" thread I have given a rats ass about in over a year. Is Eclipse or Pioneer in the ballpark? Can a camera integrate (as my vehicles have horrible rear vision)

If you can wait just a little longer....... and save up just a bit more..... the new Eclipse is out next month and is poised to decimate everyone in the double din market.

thats a hefty claim given the kenwood 9140 is just behind it....
