I built an entire system around a stock HU, it was the last thing i wanted to change. I have aftermarket everything except HU(all speakers externally amplified), along with a very good install. However, a stock HU can only go so far, and it's time to upgrade, so i'm looking for an HU and my budget is 500 dollars(cdn) not including install. I'm looking at the Alpine 9833...does anyone have any opinions/suggestions for me? thanks very much

get the rockford fosgate 8250 from sounddomain.com for $299 USD - after shipping/importing should run close to $450. Check out elitecaraudio.com for info on the 8250

You can get that same JVC DVD HU from Visions for at least $50 less. However, even with my current installation problems on my HU I would still recommend the same one I bought.
The Alpine CDA9833.
It retails for $549.99 but you should be able to pick it up from any Visions location for @ $478ish.
LOTS of tuneable features (still reading the manual.....)

If you want to go old school, go for an Alpine 7939 or 7940.

What about that Rockford Fosgate (Dennon) deck for sale on Sounddomain? Sound Domain Dennon/Ford It looks super sleek and good for your system (no internal amp) and should be under $500 Canadian.
