This may sound strange but I was wondering which company made the best looking crossover for a component set.
I know it's all about the sound but looks do matter to a point. |
For me, it's a toss between the latest Diamond Audio HEX x/o, and the Alpine Type X x/o.
Diamond HEX: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...9/fa1daa06.jpg The Alpine has billions of features, though and is bi-ampable. Alpine Type X: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/fa1daa02.jpg Oh, right there's the "T" series (3 way) Type X crossover, with even more features and is tri-ampable from what I recall. Type X used in "T" and "M" series: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...8/fa1daa01.jpg |
I've always liked the look of the older MB Quart crossovers, especially the Q series.

alpines spx is very nice, gotta give it up to them for that, but 3000 bones it should be

Icon, I paid $450 all in for my set of SPX-177A's.
For the 3 way set, the best the local shop could do was I think $800 per side, so $1600 plus tax and such. ...but still ...going broke would never sound so goood! :D |

The brax graphic pro xovers are nice....... the alpine spz's xovers look similar but a bit more beefed up...... there are a few sets with similar looking passives........ the glass really looks classy.. Kriston |
I've seen them crossovers before

The Alpine f17t 3 way set that I have retails for $1200. It was the F#1 set, and then last year they brought out the $5000 set. I have alot more money behind my speaker then their worth. So I would bother putting the f1 set in a vehicle (other then demo purposes) unless there was 40 grand plus into the install.

The Diamond's are sharp. I find the Alpines kinda blah. I like the simple, non-traditional look of the RF FNQ crossovers
The new PG crossovers that look like their amps are massive. I have a set of Quart Musicomp 3-way passives I probably won't be needing in the future if you are interested. Nice quality stuff in them. [ January 01, 2004, 10:20 PM: Message edited by: SUX 2BU ] |
