"BEST SUB LOCATION"- pictures of my trunk
 

Well i finally mounted my sub box. After a lot of "discussion", i decided to mount it with the woofer facing the back, as shown in the pics provided. I took out the flimsy trunk cover and built my own out of 3/4" mdf. ,screwed to 2x4's and then the 2x4's screwed to the car. I built a platform for my sub to sit on, with corner braces. I wanted to be able to still use my spare tire, so a lid built out of 3/4" mdf was fabricated with a handle. I traced out some corner "mud flaps" out of 3/4" mdf also and fit them into place. Once everything fit properly, i took out all the pieces of mdf and glued carpet on them, then trimmed the excess and re-installed. What do you think? Not to bad for a first attempt. Now i am wanting to change the 12" infinity for either a "DD" or "CSS".Thanks to all for the input on my earlier question on "best subwoofer location":thumbsup

typically thats the right setup rearfiring into the trunk so that the back wall loads up and then reflects into the car.
Which infinity is that 1050?

.........1250. Good, cheap reliable sub. Rated for 300rms, but had it set up in the house to a power amp that was rated 600 watts rms mono 4 ohms, With no bass boost. Took the full output for hours on end, with out too much complaint, other than the odd "light snaping" sound as the sub reached its maximum capability, but even this rarely happened. Looking to upgrade to a sub that really pounds.:)

thats a big box then, I actually just got one of the same subs installed, running it sealed, I would be interested in yours when you replace it possibly, unless I replace it as well first... :D

The box is 2cft. ported enclosure tuned to 32 hz. It has a 1 1/4" front baffle. The box itself is heavy and well built. I stuffed the inside walls with poly fiber. I bought it last year from "dimensionaudio.com". I think now they want $149 US plus shipping. When i bought mine it was on sale. Only $79 US plus shipping. I think the total amount i payed for the box, shipping, duty and US currency exchange came out to be around $160 cdn.:)

u stuffed a ported box with polyfill? why? floor looks good man please buy a handle though..that one u made ruins all your hard work

You line the walls with poly fiber to cut down on internal resonances. I left the port clear and un-obstructed. I think you are probally right about the handle, off to the hard ware store for a new one.:)

never heard the polyfill thing on a ported box before...but ok whatever works..and yeah get a nice handle maybe paint the strips holding ur box in place

POLYFILL IN PORTED BOXES IS AS USEFUL AND COMMON AS IN SEALED BOXES. EVEN MANY MANUFACTURERS RECOMMEND IT'S USE..JBL FOR EXAMPLE IN THEIR BOX SPECS IN THE MANUAL STATES "stuffed with loose-packed fiberfill".
