Best Subwoofer to pair with Focal Power 1.800?

I'm new here... lots of great info to be found on this site.

Anyway, am planning a system for my next truck, which I should be getting within the next month or two. I got a deal I couldn't pass up on a Focal 1.800 amp this weekend at Car Audio Gone Wild in Edmonton - $400. I would like to make the best use of this amp and its 800W rms at 1 ohm, or at the very least the 600W rms at 2 ohms. The vehicle I will be getting will most likely be a Chevy Avalanche, and to maintain as much utility as possible, my sub choices are limited to a 12 - 13" (might get a matching amp and sub at some point to add that little bit more). I'm not sure what type of sub would be for this application.

Any suggestions would be great. I want something that will make the best of the power, but clarity is more important. The rest of the system will most likely be a Pioneer AVIC-Z110bt with Focal k2 speakers and a Focal FP 4.75 amp.

Thanks in advance.

Since you're going with mostly Focal equipment, why steer away? I'd personally go with a Focal sub of your choice.

JBL Gti gets my vote

I was leaning toward Focal subs, and obviously a 12" won't be the best application of the 1.800's capabilities, but I wanted to see what else might be suggested, since Focal's best match for this amp is the 18", and short of filling the cargo box with an enclosure and going all-out, there is no way that an 18 would fit in an avalanche. There is a good chance I will go with a 33kx or something like that.

That JBL is a nice unit. My amp doesnt say anything about running 3 ohms though, so I would be concerned about that. Any advice there?

Figure out how much room you have for the box before you even start looking at a sub(s).

i will be building a custom emclosure and i am willing to sacrifice enough space to fit whatever 12-13" sub will work best with the amp. i might be able to squeeze in a 15, but i would like to stay with a 13" max and possibly make it a pair somewhere down the line.

by the time i am able to get the sub, i my be able to afford anothrr amp and a pair of subs. this is just my planning stage though- i need to get the truck and pay for it, get an alatm, and the deck before the bass comes. this will probably be a project for next summer, but if i find a deal on anything between now and then, it would be nice to have the parts ready to go.

Have a look at this sub.

i like that one. its the only sub i have seen with a frequency response as low as 10hz, which matches the amp. i want to have the fullest bass range i can get. this one just made its way towards the top of my list.

This is an amazing subwoofer. It is not for the price conscious shopper though. I guess that the savings from the amp you just bought can help offset the price that this high end of a sub commands.

price is a pretty big factor right now, being in high school, but i would rather wait to buy a good sub than have something cheap that i wont like. most of my budget for this year will be going into buying the truck itself, but i should be able to at least come close to finishing the system next summer. what kind of price range is it in? even if i have to wait to get next years model a year from now, it seems to be a good match for what i need.
