Hey guys,

I am shipping a sub out to BC and was wondering what the best way to ship it would be?

The sub is a JL 12W7 and I don't have the original packaging.

foam,bubble wrap,box in box with the cone facing a 1" closed cell foam sheet.

put in a wooden box then build another box around it
without a proper shipping box your just looking to distroy that driver by packing it with foam and bubble wrap
i've had 4 lit signs with 1/4" plate steel on the bottom they were all recieved with bent plates on the bottom

Mine came bolted into a "shipping crate". This was then dropped into a cardboard box with thin padding on each side.

The crate was just two pieces of cheap wood bolted together with some aluminum tubing to make it box-like. Pics are here:

I know that you are fully capable of designing something yoursefl and making it safe, but I often like to have the shipping company package the woofer.

I once had some stuff shipped to me, it broke and wasn't covered due to insufficient packaging and if UPS or whoever packs it, there is no way they can say it's no good.

That is just another option.

Otherwise, the box method is best, build a wooden box, with foam to pad the woofer from the top and bottom and sides. It works wonders [img]smile.gif[/img]

the biggest problem with anything in shipping is if the object inside the box moves, it will get damaged, you can put it in a cardboard box, bubble wrap the sub shove bubble wrap under, around and ontop of the sub to make sure it wont move, then tape the sh*t out of the box, add some shrink wrap to the outside of the box to hold it all together nice and tight and lifes gravy. i shipped a set of eclipse titanium 10's to bc from toronto and they got there fine by that method. and that was 2 or 3 weeks ago, by canada post. so you should be good, then make sure u insure it, and mark the box fragile in big letters on all 6 sides clearly marking which side is up and then if something does go wrong you can get your cash via the insurance quickly

Well the best way to ship it would be in the origional packaging. Now is it possible to go to the store you bought the sub from and see if they have sold any recently that the customer did not want the packaging? Takes "garbage" off their hands and gets you exactly what you need. Just a suggestion.

2 sheets of wood.. one for the top and one for the bottom.

connect them so the sub is snug inside them. then bubblewrap/newspaper/anyhting all around it and put it into a cardboard box.

thats how i got my atlas 12's and they were shipped usps gnd.
