Just wondering what is the best way too attach a gold ring terminal too a wire?

A big pair of vice grips to crimp the heck out of it. Then I usually try to solder it as best I can. Never had one come off after doing this!

I think you mean the Terminals that have an Allen Set Screw, not crimp style terminals. Like:

I just solder the very end to hold the wire together, It helps it to not fall out. And the part where the set screw acutally pushes on the wire has lots of area to "crunch into.

You can buy proper crimp tools to do larger power wire sizes

i sadar all my 1/0 terminals to the wire

my 2 bits... rent a burndy hypress and the right die... it'll make a SOLID connection. nothing like 5000 PSI on the terminal to make a good joint that'll never come off.

I always smash the hell out of it with a hammer. or I will solder tinteds for him............

Solder solder solder.............it's the only way to get the best connection.

Set screw and compression ends look great but they are actually a pretty crappy connection.

Solder is the only way use a propane torch carefully.. heat up the ring terminal, tin it, slide the wire in. heat a little more, and then apply solder works like a charm. Be careful not to scorch the insulation on the wire though.

If it's a closed end terminal, heat up the terminal and fill it about half full with melted solder, then push your wire into it, the wire will suck the solder up into the wire.
