Big 3 - 2 Batteries

How do you do the big 3 with dual batteries. My new F350 Diesel has 2 batteries

Yours will be the Big 4. Do all the regular Big 3, then also do the pos cable that goes from batt to batt.

I have yet to do this on my 07 5.9 cummins

for each batt, you will do the BIG 3.

this means that there will be two wires from + alt to each batt, each batt will be grounded to the frame, and then each batt will be grounded to the engine block.

Is the big 3 upgrade even necessary with a new F350?? The alternators on them crank out the power. What, around 130 amps? I think thats what my 03 F350's alternator put out. I now have a 08 F350 with two batteries, (ALL diesels do). Would a big 3 upgrade benifit me at all? (see what I go in my signature).

Anyone know?? Thanks

Definitely would help, more so depending on how much power your system has.

Oh, and I'd do it the way Jalat said above. Use 1/0 ga wire, solder the ring terminals on, then crimp them (I use the vise).

Would it benefit you? How about popping the hood and taking a look at the factory wiring. Now look at a piece of 1/0, see any differences? I think you will... high gauge wire = higher resistance, more voltage drop ... high current draw on small wire = heat. Heat also = more resistance on the wire

For copper, the resistance at 100 deg C is nearly 43% greater than at 0 deg C and increases proportionally between those temps.

I see what you mean. I guess my question would be: Am I going to notice any considerable difference in my ears? What specific improvement will I notice? Will I suddenly have HUGE amounts more bass?

better voltage to your amps = clean power/more power.

Cool. I always have room for more thump. I think I will do it then. Would cleaner power lessen some of the static?

What kind of static? Alt whine? With vehicle on an off?
