well i was driving out to a BBQ last night around 530, heading east on the 401, some guy cuts me off, slams his breaks, and i didnt have enough time to stop, so i hit him....my car has a scratch or two, and his bumper has some scratches and is kinda hanging off on the one side........but then after all the info exchange, i get in my car and my amps not turning on [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img] i checked every single connection and the amps still not on, the fuse under the hood is in tact, but it has some lines across the center, what could be making the amp not turn on?!? im clueless........so i called a buddy and he says sometimes the round(gold tip) fuses come loose on the inside and will only work intermitantly......i havnt tried replacing hte fuse yet and i dont have a volt meter, if its not the fuse anyone know what it might be?? oh and when the accident happend..i wasnt going over 30Km, so the impact wasnt great at all

any help would be appreciated....thanks!

do the bsic checks.
make sure the is 12 volts differance between pwer and ground at the amp, that will tell you there is no problem with your power wireto the amp and that your ground is still in tact.

Using the ground on the amp as your referance make sure the remote wire has a 12 volt signal when the deck is playing.

Those are the quick and easy things to check

as soon as i get a volt meter ill do that, i need fuses anyways so when i pick some up ill check it all

If you really did blow the underhood fuse, the protect light on the amp should turn on. This means it should be red rather than green on most amps. If there is no light at all, there is probably a problem with the remote wire or the amp itself. I would suspect that your fuse is blown. They can often look intact and still be no good. Also, it is always good to have a multimeter in the garage for stuff like this. Mine has saved me many headaches in the past.

Not always the case. My fuse holder went to the crapper a few weeks ago. Granted, my amp is a cheap one, but my amp "on" light still engaged with the HU even though there was no 12V + to the amp. In my case, as long as the amp receives "remote" signal the light will turn on. Through this the amp "protection" light never came on. But as was mentioned by many people, a good multimeter goes a long way. It is a good investment.
