What does breakm in period have to do with a smoked voice coil, obviously he was putting way to much distortion through his sub and cooked the coil. Luckily for him Future Shop has a one year over the counter replacment on all speakers.

after readin your original post again i would have to wonder if you have a bad amp. cause 15 min is pretty quick to cook a sub.

trystin123 02-19-2007 08:33 PM

well futureshop took it bak and i think it put it threw too much it was below 0 never warmed it up had it max for 15 maybe 20 so im goin to put the extra money in and get a clarion 12 does any one know how ther are cuz im bridgeing it at 250 x 2 so i will get 500 rms about and the sub is 500 so no chance of over poweringit and the place im getting it from said hes never herd of a clarion blowing and the sub from future shop 100 bux sub and bass works box so makes me thing that the box is a 130 alone so there must of been something with it and my amp has a built in fan so it will hel from over heating

I can blow a 1000 watt sub with 50 watts. overpowering a sub will usualy not kill it. sending it a shittass signal will. distortion kills.

you clearly have no idea what your doing. search the fourms and learn some basic things. not trying to rag on you. I was in your same postion a few years ago but I did my research before I asked stupid questions.

and steer clear of the place selling the clarion subs. either the guy has had extremely good luck with clarion, doesnt know what hes talking about, or hes feeding you shitt. I have yet to hear of ANY subwoofer manufature having 0% of there products failing.

my buddy has 2 clarion subs that are making beutiful paperweights.

Who warranties smoked voice coils? Read the fine print on your warranty card.
