Brahma to replace an Inhuman?
#1
Hey guys, I have a Inhuman 15" right now but it's way too big for my car, I can't fit a proper box in the trunk for it. I was thinking of selling the Inhuman and going with a single 12" Brahma. The sub will be getting 1200 watts. Anyone have experience with the Brahma? I'm looking for something that hits hard and very low for around 500 without a large box. Any help opinions is greatly appreciated.

I've been told the Brahma will work in a sealed box much bettr than the other BIG subs. Ported is still better but when space is key....
The ED "A" series is designed for a small box.
ED15a calls for 2.0-2.5 ported, or 0.8-1.5 sealed and could still handle the 1200rms.
There was one for sale here by stealth/TT I believe also.

Do a Brahma 10 ported if you don't want to do a 12 ported. do yourself a favour, just port it!!!!! . I think for any 15 2.0 cubes ported is a bit too small. maybe i'll have to get one first and try it, but i would imagine you would have bad output,ve tried it with other 15's.....

Thanks for the input, I'm all about ported. The Inhuman is in a 3.5 cu ft ported box but the port is extremly small, only 16sq ft of port area. If I had the space I'd build a 4.75 cu ft ported box for it but I don't. I seen the Brahma 12 plays ideally in a 2.5 cu ft ported so it seemed like a good choice. I'd tune it more towards SQL. I'm gonna be hittin the odd competition here and there for fun. So something that'd do a decent number would be sweet too

Well an e15a will have more displacement and have better efficiency. Two things that would help in the lanes.
And, ED recommends the 2.2 ported enclosure because it was designed to work in small enclosures (I know because I was going to buy one and emailed ED thinking that number was small and they confirmed the number). So it will be loud and get low dispite what Team Obsession says.

Taken from the Adire Brahma webpage:
"Because of the mid-value Qts and tiny Vas numbers, Brahma drivers are ideally suited to very small enclosure sizes (or, in many cases, infinite baffle applications)"

I guess that would make the Brahma a "small box woofer" also huh?

yes it would....but still a 12" or 10' would be much better suited for that small of an enclosure than a 15", because of efficiency and response. I mean any 15" driver will sound WAY better in a larger box than a smaller one..with most small boxes you lose efficiency and frequency response...but gain power handling because of lost efficiency. There are many "small box" woofers out there....ex. kicker L7, JL Audio, MTX there are many more. THey are saying it will work in a small box but if you have the space for a larger enclosure that would be usually recommended, because you can recieve a flatter response and better efficiency
I still recommend a 12" or 10" even for SPl. I don't really recommend the 15 for SQ or SPL if you don't have 3cubes or more after displacement...we cn only offer opinions, the decision is yours

I appreciate your opinions. You guys have alot more experience than me and I'd take your opinions over mine. I think a Brahma 12 will be my next woofer. If I could fit a 15 in my trunk I'd definitely keep the Inhuman, besides it's always fun trying new things. Is the RE XXX based on the Brahma? They seem to be very similar.
