Breaking In new car audio system...
Im getting a new car audio system soon and im wondering about the whole entire break in process. Getting all four speakers as well as 2 Subwoofers for the trunk.
What is this break-in process? Is there anything I should do before im able to pump the subs to their max capabilities? Any specific music genre I should stick to playing during the first couple days? Or is there a specific Music cd designed for breaking in speakers anywhere out there? Thanks for any help :) |
some people run 30-40 hertz test tones through their subs at low volume for several hours, but I prefer to just play it at low volume for a while.
The first few hours, barely audible, then increase it a little for another couple hours and so on. I took about 8 hours to break in my new sub, gradually increasing the volume over the course of two days and it will now take everything i can give it with no problems so far. |
Thanks alot :)
Any kind of genre of music I should stick with for the "breaking-in" process? |
The whole concept of whether or not you need to break in a subwoofer is a controversial one, a lot of people argue it won't make a difference. There was a good writeup on the topic but I can't find the website.

Here's a good thread to read: Car Forums - Breaking In A Subwoofer - beyond.ca car forums for automotive enthusiasts

I dont think it will make a difference because playing it at low volumes wont loosen the spider much.

The Kicker website has a write-up about break-in.
I think my manual said not to use full power untill they'd played for 8 hours at half. Who Knows? Can't hurt it keeping it low for a while. |
Take it easy for few hours then give it a good playing should be right then homie:appl: :smilie_da

IMO, I don't think you should worry about break-in too much.
