Well I contacted pioneer and surprise ... They will not cover blown voice coil so I've decided I'm getting a alpine type r slim provided it will fit in my box

try tuning the amp properly so the gains are not at 100% ao as not to send clipping signal to the sub... just because ur amp is rated at 424wrms does not mean u can turn the gains all the way up without damage to something

do it right this time and u will same urself tons of money in the end

good luck
Dan

Talking

If you smelled a burnt coil...... there was some way you have been over driving your your bass output a bit too much, How were you over driving it? could be many ways:
1. clipping of the amp would be most obvious.

2. amps stability at 2 ohms is over rated and sent your voice coil into a High Current death.

3. Long term use on hot days, at extreme volume levels in a small sealed box with lots of stuffing; will cook the coil. You will notice an impedance drop on the coil as it heats up, you will loose amplifier output current and the output to the sub will decrease.

Any combination of the above is a fast recipe for coil disaster.

OK so your getting a type R... so why wont this one blow up too? (this is a "what have you learned" post)

was the first sub failing your fault? (could have been a manufacturing defect but the way you are doing this you could not prove it... but it sounds like you killed it so welcome to the club)
