Burning MDF?

yeah I don't know about an ope fireplace the fumes might be pretty toxic, but my dad burns almost anything burnable in his woodstove ...............all the woodscraps from his shop (mdf, plywood, planks, paneling ect...), lrftover pices of styrafoam sm, plastic scraps, old oil filters, dirty rags, ect ......
you name it, if it burns in his stove it goes .......

yikes. I work at a Lumberyard and MDF dust is extremely harmful. Burning it produces very toxic fumes as well. NEVER burn it around anything living. It has formaldahyde in it, and the dust (and the smoke I imagine) is carcinogenic. We had a customer who was roasting hot dogs over a fire constructed out of treated wood regularly. (the old CCA-copper-chromium-ARSENIC stuff) [img]graemlins/jawdrop.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/banghead.gif[/img] If a house near you with a treated deck (the old stuff) goes up in flames......try not to breathe in any of the fumes lol.

actually....yeah I could probably give you a good deal.....but retail is only just over 20$ for shop grade anyhow. (3/4")
