I have lots of small, odd sized pieces of MDF kicking around that are no good for building boxes. I was wondering if it's safe to burn them in a fireplace.

Thanks.

mdf is fantastic to burn in a fireplace if you want to die. I KNOW you are joking.....so I am not going to explain why.

yikes. I work at a Lumberyard and MDF dust is extremely harmful. Burning it produces very toxic fumes as well. NEVER burn it around anything living. It has formaldahyde in it, and the dust (and the smoke I imagine) is carcinogenic. We had a customer who was roasting hot dogs over a fire constructed out of treated wood regularly. (the old CCA-copper-chromium-ARSENIC stuff) If a house near you with a treated deck (the old stuff) goes up in flames......try not to breathe in any of the fumes lol.
