As much as I want to strangle the bad customers, you do get the good ones too. I have a bunch of really cool customers that just come in to see what's up, and they're someone you can chill wit at the bar and whateve'. They also respect you for your knowledge and what you actually know.
Well, now hopefully i started something good here, cuz as much fun as bitchin' is, this is better

those are the type of customers for me if they are around my age, they become friends. when they come to see you they tend to bring more people to buy from you also, and those people tend to trust everything your doing for them or buy whatever your selling. gotta love those customers. not enough of them out there. exactly

I don't have those people here. And by the lack of response I would guess that they are few and far between. I guess I am just jaded, but customers pretty much never become my friends, maybe it is because I am 31 and most of the customers I have that spend any real amounts of money are >40 or 25<. Although I have had a few people try to be my friends and then expect free installs.

A good customer to me is one that realizes I am not out to screw them and trusts in my knowledge. They give me their budget and what they want to accomplish and give me free reign to do it right the way I would do it if it were for me. And it's pretty smooth when that happens.

We have alot of customers that drop in just to say hi and bring in alot of there friends, there are actually alot of my customers that I consider my friend that I have met through my shop

Actually, the one thing I miss most about retail is my old "regulars". I would have guys come in and talk audio/philosophy/sports/movies, etc and they would send everyone they knew to me. I had a lot of fun with the people I would meet and I learned a lot of new things from them.

In fact, on Saturdays the one thing that used to save my sanity on a day dominated by "tire kickers", "tweeter pokers" and just plain mean spirited people was my regulars coming in and watching the front for me.

alot of my friends are customers, birds of a feather they say, im fortunate as marty knows, to have a very good clientel, and rarely have to take issue with some a-hole guy, but like tim, i'm a grouch and the rare time i have to take issue with someone, i will usually unload with both barrels, because by that time the dik ihas usually become so unreasonable that giving him both barrels is the only way to get the wiener out of the store, but ingerneral i love the clientel i have, lots of guys with lots of money and willing to spend it, i also spend alot of my own time and money to land big clients, see guys at the bar or pubs or whatever, buy him and his girl dinner, or buy them a round, visit them at there house on their schedule to see their car, truck, boat and so on, and all those people are great to deal with, and the best costomer are the ones that pay ontime everytime, i like those ones the best

I Agree with you Dave 100 percent, goin' the extra mile is totally worth it, for instance, I have a customer who I helped prepare for Dave's show, and well, some meathead headbutted me in the bar the other night, and he had no problem stepping in and evening up the odds for me. He will get a super good deal on his next purchase for sure. I just wanted to say thanks, and he'll get a case of beer too
