i still have my wires set up in my car its a 4 guage, normally people have 0 guage i believe for amps this powerfull but can i still test the amp safely?

 

Of course. Just turn the gains down and keep the volume respectably low.

 

You can use it to test the amp up to about 3/4 of max rms with a sine wave. 4 awg is good for up 130 amps at 15 ft...so depending on the amp's efficiency that can equate to around 1300-1400 watts typically for a class d.
