Question Can't decide: Fi 15BL or 12BTL?

Will be going into a 03 Acura 1.7EL (Civic sedan), and powered by a Ultimate T3-1000D (around 2000W RMS).

15" BL would have cooling, flatwind, and enclosure would be the following:

3.1 ft^3, 33hz, 43.5 in^2 of port

12" BTL would have cooling, HiXmCoil, and enclosure would be the following:

2.5 ft^3, 33hz, 37 in^2 of port

I am wondering if the HiXmCoil would make up for the loss of surface area going from a 15 to a 12? Should I squeeze the 15 into a smaller box or give the 12 lots of room to breathe? I want to move as much air as possible but in a daily driver situation. Thanks in advance for responses and suggestions!

BTL isnt worth getting unless you have a load of power going to it. i think you'd be plenty happy with a 12" BL (fully loaded)

i ran 2 12" SSD's fully loaded and miss the subs with all my heart. great quality products

I used to run a 15"Q, and I was to surpass or at least match its output. The 15Q was presenting a 4ohm load to the amp, so making the switch to dual 1 ohm should help my amp output.

I hadn't really considered a 12"BL. Would the 12"BL in a larger box with more port area, outperform a 15 in a smaller box with less port area? (all volumes and port areas inside Fi's recommendations)

i would much rather run a properly ported 12" than a sufficated 15"

The more I think about it the more I am leaning toward the 12" BTL fully loaded. It will be in a proper enclosure that will fit in my trunk a hell of a lot easier. It should handle any power that I can throw at it even if I upgrade my amp in the future. My biggest concern is that with that drop in cone surface area it won't be able to create that breathtaking low end that I have become accustom to from my 15" Q series!

Hopefully the reduction in amp load and increased power to the driver, combined with a nice big enclosure with lots of port, the BTL will move enough air to keep me happy...

I can assure you that if you build an enclosure to Fi's spec its gonna be a groundpounder no doubt. you said you were running 2krms right? I dont really see the point in getting a fully loaded BTL. Get the high xmas coil and thats about it. also make sure its daily, and not SPL. and please, for the love of god, dont get a colored dustcap sticker

Right now Fi is behind on there builds so they are giving free cooling on all BTL orders. (and a free T-Shirt) I figured that is too good an deal to pass on. The colored dustcaps are just stickers? That is lame.
