Cant decide what to do about new speakers and amp

Hey guys.

I was thinking I am going to buy 4 type r speakers for my car.

http://www.crutchfield.ca/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=500SPR17C&CartID=3

The thing is I do not want to spend more than 200 on the amp. My question is what will underpowering the speakers do. Will it not sound as good. Also is it worth it to just not buy the type r speakers and buy something cheaper and put the cheaper speakers and put them to there full potential?

Because if I want to put these type r to there full potential Im going to have to spend atleast 600 bucks for a good amp. i really dont think im gonna need that much power anyways. I just have one 12 inch sub.

The reason why I wanna change the speakers are because the stock ones just suck.. If im going to amply them how do I go about doing that.

I don't think under powering them will hurt the speakers, they won't be as loud though.
Atm I'm running my speakers(Eclipse SC6500 and SP5710) at approx. 50% rms power and they seem to be fine(no distortion, good clarity), I would say get the Type R's with the smaller amp for now and when you can afford a higher rated amp upgrade to that.

Give MR2NR a PM he is a resident vendor here based on Vancouver Island he might be able to assist you in your needs and have some advice(not that there is a shortage of advice here at CCA lol).
