Capacitor Question

I know the general rule is 1 Farad per 1000 Watts. My amp is a Sony M3 500 Watts RMS. Running 1 12" RF P2. Im getting a little dimming and wondering if i should settle for a .5 CAP, or got to something like a 2 or 3 Farad. Not interested in doing the BIG 3 atm by the way.

if it dims a cap wont do squat do the BIG 3 upgrade and put a bigger alternator. its the only way to go

The cap can't stabilize the voltage as much as you hope it will.

Consider this...

I have an 18 farad cap on a 2000W system with a high output alternator wired with 1/0 gauge, and still get some headlight dimming.

Be sure to post your dissatisfaction with it back here once you buy it.

cap worked for my last setup. An why would a guru like RF manufacture caps if they do nothing. Big 3 is only good with larger setups, or garbage vehicles. I have an 06 MDX and it is not constant dimming. only on HUGE bass notes. anyways, enough about the big 3, i want opinions on cap that have worked for peeps.

even if RF does great stuff a cap is still ( to me ) easy money and advertised all the wrong way. IT IS NOT MADE TO REGULATE VOLTAGE. it is made to eliminate the ac ripple caused by the alternator that can damage an amp and bad for SQ
