car audio/home audio help!!
 

just wondering if it is alright to run a car audio system off my home audio receiver for a bit ...doing a presentation and its not going to be near a car, basically a free standing wall. i've tested the subs on my ome reciever and it seems fine..just want to make sure its fine

what amp and can it run at 4oms ,most are 8oms

yeah it can run at 8...6 at best i think....it would be running for like an hour or two max...i don't think it will harm anything will it?

Keep an eye on the temp of your amp. Depending on how large your subs/system draw is, it could work alright. It's not recommended if the impedance doesn't match up. My buddy runs car subs off his home reciever all the time and hes never had an issue in 2 years or so.

yeah because i've tested the subs out just to hear them on my home receiver for like a song, didn't really get too hot. and shudn't the fuses protect it as well?

"zzzzz" if its not a good idea...any recomendations?...i need to run a free standing wall outside (display wall) for an hour or two. i have 2 10's 2 6X9's and 2 6.5" components...i also have an audison amp and deck but no fuses to hook them up to a battery safely and need some wire (i've only got 12 gauge) to hook up the amp to the battery...basically i don't want to be spending money for a 1 hour presentation...any ideas?

what home amp do you have? my 15+yr old Bryston 3B runs 4ohms no problem. and also there are quite a few home speakers nowadays that are 4ohms anyways.

since your amp says 6ohm min..... i would just monitor the temperature on the heat sink.. otherwise it should be fine. but if you're gonna run the amp into clipping... it might not be a good idea.
