Craig Archer At Ultimate Car Audio has been there since 89,I know he is very quiet and not alot of life to him.But I would buy my stuff of him anyday even when these big box shops came in he stood his ground and is still there.(like Best buy/Future shop very much)

I Just like that feel that you can look around see prices, with-out someone jumping on you asking what do you need can I help etc

Whitby Hifi I just don't know,Way to pushy and there Jl audio stuff is way over priced.

I went in acting like I didn't have clue and said I wanted a viper DEI 791 combo unit on my cavalier.$930 to install it on a cavalier what the hell

Audiowaves open'ed back up I was told,So the gay brothers are still at it

If you want to come a little further,Like Peterborough way Kawartha tv stereo can help you

I also can help you out,Any brands your looking at
Ultimate doesn't have anything to offer the original poster for what he is looking for.
Whitby HiFi is full of salesman who are there not to make good suggestions for the customers but instead to make their own profits. Dealing with the owners in cash is the only way to go and you better know your stuff and what you want before you walk in.
Custom in Whitby is overpriced and their installs are very hot/cold quality wise (but I will say they have some decent guys working in the showroom who are somewhat knowledgeable and will help you out if they can). Again I don't feel they have anything to offer the original poster here.

Custom can be seen from the 401 right???

When I went in when the Pioneer 8600 was hot,They didn't even have one in the board and said it would be something like $700-800.All the boards where empty and had some ??? dynamics subs in a plexi wall. Can't think of what the damn subs are called.

Im In oshawa all the time and never have seen your sunfire,Where you hideing at.

Im haveing a grand opening real soon you should come on out

My 0.02$ worth,
Whitby hifi has been good to me,
got alot of memphis stuff, once they know you, for good prices.
I try and stay away from JL gear because i think its over priced for what you get where ever you go. again, imho.
They also just got some zapco gear in there, not sure about there prices on that stuff, but it can be good if they know you.

Don't fry me just for the stuff i post, i only post the stuff i know.

It's good to hear you had a fine experience with them. My experience has been they've always tried to get me to change my gear to somethign they sell because they state my gear is garbage.
First I had a pair of Boston Acoustics 12.5LF's in my GTA and they told me the 12.5LF's were average subs and that I should step up to a JL12w3v2 as the SQ would be much better.
Then I walked in a couple years later and had a RE HC15 in the trunk and they told me it was garbage and a flea market brand and that I should swap in a 15w0 as it would be a "huge improvement".

Neither time did they ever walk out to see/listen my car. I have and will continue to send people there but only if they know what they want and I tell them who to talk to.

Cavy - Custom is an ID dealer (although not sure if they stilll are). The plexi rack has some IDQ's in it.
Nothing on my car to distinguish it from the crowd other than it is always VERY clean and detailed (neat freak). You also will not hear a thump from the stereo in town which is why it has never been broken into.
Where is your shop and when is your grand opnening?

You are right, they try and push the JL stuff alot because they think it's the best. Everyone has their own opinion on what's the best.

I do the same thing, referring people there if they are knowledgeable and know what they want.

I drive a 93 Crown Vic. in the summer, and a 97 F150 ext cab in the winter.

I've notice the same thing, not many from around here on this site.
Not sure why though?
