Car battery
 

So im located in Vancouver BC and im looking for either a yellow top or something equivilant to that for my car
my battery has recently died and so i will be needing a new one... does anyone know where i can get a yellow top for less than 200?
or something else along those lines of a deepcycle audio battery?

There's a guy on buysell.ca advertising optima batteries for around $129 in Vancouver last time I looked around.

Canadian Tire sells their Motomaster Eliminator gel cell batteries. Made by Exide, cheaper than Optimas and carry good warranty too.

is that the spiral cell ones you're talking about?

and also Orbital Cycle Extreme-Duty for $180

description is almost identical for both. Just the name is different. Is there a point to get the Orbital over the Motormaster?

And also I'd like to know if there's any benefit having one of those for the car stereo (2 amps, all speakers, 10" sub, aprox. 800wrms all together) Cause I notice that when cranked high my bass isn't getting louder at some point until the max volume. I am using the original Acura battery that came with the car. I believe it is more than 6 years old now. However I have no problems with it and it starts the car just fine.

^ You mean that as you turn up the volume the bass sort of 'tops out' and does not get any louder but your speakers continue to get louder?

If so, the gain on your bass amp is too high so the amp reaches peak output before the rest of the system. Turn the gain down until everything peaks at the same time. If that isn't enuf bass for you then you need more power.

that's what I mean exactly. the bass peaks (Alpine head unit 0 to 35) at about 23. I posted about this before and so far upgraded wires to 2gauge, installed big 3, added an 8v line driver (which made it louder but still peaks the same), built a 1cu/ft ported enclosure tuned to 40hz (which made the bass sound better, more defined, with better response. better SQ overall). but the peaking thing still bothers me. I have the line driver turned up to max, the amp takes up to 8V and I have the gain at 4V. Amp is Alpine MRD-M605 and sub is 10" older style Type R at 300wrms running at 4ohm. it's getting something over 400wrms. I think that's enough power to the sub. Maybe I should get a more efficient driver or something. I mean everything works fine and it gets loud enough at 25. But sometimes I like to turn it up real loud and I want it to shake the car well as it should. :dunno:

make sure you are setting the gain properly. There will be a point on the volume scale (at around 2/3 or 22-23 on the volume) where the sound starts to get distorted. you do not want to be playing distorted signals through your speakers because this distorted signal is clipping ( the higher you go the worse the clipping).

I don't hear any distortion at any volume really. gains are set properly on all speakers. the only thing is the sub with that line driver however I also don't detect any distortion from it.

costco is your best bet.

cosco no longer sells them, if u can find a yellow top for less the $200 buy it. the cost of lead sky rocketed...red top are over $200 at Walmart. i do not know about the other brands...but they could be good batteries as well.
