I have a crappy deck, but it's in a crappy car, so I'm not buying a really good one.

It's in a 92 cavalier RS. when i took out the factory radio, it's a lot shorter, so the new cd player doesn't fit in depth-wise. sooooo, i mounted it on TOP of the panel that snaps on. It looks good, but the constant skipping just makes me wanna kick it!

so, i tried putting a big piece of foam underneath the deck, that doesn't work.

what can I do??

ya gotta mount it firm, loose aint workin

Get out the dremel and make it fit

Good and tight!!

I just cut a new plexi plate to mount it to, which i attach to the front panel. It is a VERY tight fit, but the car has bad suspension, and the bumps.. oh the bumps...

is there anything i can do to the back of it that will help, or should i give up and get another deck?

will that help? or are all decks the same, skipping wise?

this deck is made by Cyclone, and it's a piece of junk. will a better deck, like sony or jvc not skip in this situation?

]Mayby you should get your car fixed, sound like myself though, stereo first, car second

the car has over 376000 km's on it, so i'm just driving it until it dies. we've put way too much money into it.

but i would like some music that doesn't skip! and this summer put a couple subwoofers in.

here's how it's installed.

backstrap.

You can use a new deck in your next car, which probably wont skip as much as the deck you have now,

Buy it now , and try it in the cav.

Supporting the back is a good idea, mayby with the threaded slot , a bolt , and some tank strap.

If your going to let it go with the car , a small amount of spray foam.

Try some blocks of wood even to rest/ wedge the back of the deck on

I had thought about doing the strap on the back, but I have no way to access the back. unless i take the whole dash apart, which I'm not doing.

Attach the back strap to the back of the deck, bend it at about a 45degree angle and feed it towards the bottom rear dash as you slide the deck in. Once hte deck is in the strap should be accessible under the dash to screw to something.

But anyways - yeah a deck from a major brand would not skip in that situation. It's the deck that has the problem and a lot of why it retailed for under a hundred bux

Thanks a lot Dukk. I assumed it was the deck. Maybe I'll buy a better one.

The reason I was having trouble with the back strap thing, is that I was assuming I would have to attach it above the deck, not below, like you explained. Will give it a try, thanks a lot.
