What's the best helper to elbow grease. I've been using a paint scraper but I'm thinking some sort of chemical might help removing the old underpad/glue remnants.
thanks craig. |
you might try some denatured alcohol (methylated spirits it's called now I think) That stuff will take most anything off

depending on the glue, can't you steam it off?

Go to your friendly neighbor hood carpet store. Ask them for advice.

Take a butane torch and burn it all, it will go hard then it will scrape off real easy with a putty knife.
Just did the regal floor the other day. |
Fire - the answer to pretty much anything.
You could also try Xylene or Toluleane (sp). ****** do not use in conjunction with fire ****** make sure you have a respirator and very well ventilated area. [ August 23, 2004, 12:16 PM: Message edited by: MR2NR ] |
I used to own a carpet store.
The glue used in your car is more likely to be a contact cement type adhesive. Home Depot has some products in the flooring section that should be able to remove the glue. I think that burning it is a bad idea (fire hazard and really bad fumes). Also, you might try mineral spirits (usually will remove glue and is cheap). |
