hey guys,

i am driving a 95 neon..

i have a kenwood cd player (its about 2-3 years old.. still works great though).. and i just put 2 12" JL subs into my trunk, and now when the subs start to pound, the cd starts to skip.. i know the freakin cd player doesnt have a buffer or anything, and it skips due to the shaking.. Furthermore, i know the skipping is due to the thumping because when i turn the bass up, it skips even more....

i found that if you hold the cd player while the bass pumps, it doesnt skip... so its obviously due to the thumping.

Unfortunatley, the original neon head unit is so big that my aftermarket deck is so small and i guess it has lots of room to bounce around...

Will I have to put something inside the cd player area so it absorbs the shock???... maybe some foam????

do you guys have any tips about what i should use to fix this problem???

its annoying cause i just want my subs to pound fullblast and not have any goddamn skips!

had a similar problem when changed from the stock hu in mu truck to my alpine.i just put a piece of 3/4 mdf underneith it for added support(the piece was 4" by 3" or something small like that) maby you would do something similar

My alpine 7998 had the same problem, and I cracked it open to see what was wrong. Turns out a spring that absorbs the shock had come undone and the CD thingy was hanging kinda lop-sided. Hooked it back up and it worked fine.
I have heard that wrapping a HU in sound deadening can help as well.

but be very careful... i have heard horror storeis of decks overheating from this!! and warranty will not cover it! if it's only spl use, then i'd say fine. this year alone i fried 4 decks!! i have bad luck with equip though.

i'd say u ither have a pice of junk deck, cause it shouldn't do that, or something just came loose? if u can't find it, i'd say take it back if ucan for fixing?? if u can?

yeah, the store i bought it at went under.. i'll have to take to to an authorized kenwood dealer and see what they can do with it.. must just be a piece of ****

i think i might have something to do with the alternator not supplying enough electricity to the deck... the battery light on my car's dash keeps coming up when im idling.. and i find that when i idle, it skips more.

weird.
