k, so i have 2 ****ty 10" subs and a ****ty amp, and some times, they sound ok, they are semi loud and at least make there presence known, but other times they are quiet, it seems when its really hot my stereo is louder. Whats up with that? is it my wiring? the car was wired before i got it, and the power line is garbage, and my ground is pretty ****ty to, is that my ultimate problem?

Might want to run some decent 8 or 4 gauge power wire, same with the ground also. What kind of amp is it? For the ground, grind the paint off where the ground is going to attach, and use a star washer underneath the bolt, to make a good solid connection from the ring terminal to ground, like this: http://www.jsesc.com/Images/Product....ODUCT_IMAGE=70
Hope this helps! [ August 05, 2003, 01:25 AM: Message edited by: JeepBeats ] |
This might sound like a stupid question but...when it's hot do you roll your windows down and THEN your subs seem louder?

i think thats probably true..lol your stereo should be louder when its cold. But...if your opening your windows, then we have a totally diff situation.
|
um, i dunno, my windows are always down, im obviously missing something here... :/ and all the crap(really crap) is legacy, i got it free, a 600w amp and 2 10"s in a bandpass. I figured since it was free it would do me till i get some decent stuff. But anyway, i know they shoudl be louder when colder cause theres less resistance, thats hwy it doesnt make any sence. Could it be something else, like when its hot my alternator works better? cause my alternator is kinda weak :/
And why a star washer particularily? |
You don't need a star washer, just make sure all the paint is scraped away from the area where the ground is hooked up.
|
Yeah I have always wondered why does the bass get louder when your windows are down? My car is like this too, why does it do that? LOL! I have no idea!
|
opening a window eliminates some of the standing waves produced by the length of your car, so your car isnt actually louder, but there is less cancellation at certain frequencys.

good info, thanks
