Changing the Stock Speakers

I just bought a Colorado and I am not sure what the size of the speakers are all around yet .. but I want to change them and get the best possible sound from what I put in to replace them.

I had a 2007 Saturn Ion which met an unfortunate end when an individual stole a 91 Honda Civic and smashed into it while I was sleeping. Yes, how inconsiderate that I leave my car in my own driveway ... I should have known better right?? (LOL) Anyways, I had a kick a$$ system in that car which I still have and I am sitting on the edge of install or not install into the truck. I work in the downtown core of Toronto and don't much like the idea of someone seeing a stereo in the back cab of the truck. I don't need that headache! I am installing the deck for sure but everything else is ... well on hold for now. I want to see what kinda sound I can get out of replacing all the speakers first.

Let me know the best way to go and possibly the pricing. (not that important .. I got a little back from the insurance settlement)

ok well find out what sizes we have to work with asap!...

will you be running an amp for your speakers?

do you want componant speakers or coaxals???

depending on your budget theres dozens of good speaker manufactuers out there....if you dont want to spend too much alpine makes some good stock replacement speakers

Thanks

Thanks, I pick up the truck tomorrow morning and will be taking it to be alarmed in the afternoon. It's also going to be retinted because the previous owner had a light *smoke* put on the windows.. what is the point of tinting if you can't really notice the tint! (LMFAO)

Also, I seen that you are from the *Bay* my home town is up there .. just outside on trout lake (Corbeil/Calendar area)

If you are going to be throwing an amp in either now or in the future, think about component speakers. If there are no plans on an amp, consider coax speakers as they are 99% of the time way more efficient (louder) as compared to component speakers. Depending on your budget, this will dictate the type and brands of speakers to consider.

Ok, so here is the deal. I have the 6 speaker system in the truck. (Rear/Front and mids .. I guess that's the tweeters in the doors). They are the normal 6 1/2's all the way around. I want to put subs in the truck because I really miss that thud thud thud .. you all know what I am talking about! On the other hand the truck that I bought really sticks out and I know that people are going to look into it and if they see any sign of a stereo I can kiss it goodbye. I want to get a good alarm but the prices are a little high for anything that looks like it will protect my assests.

So, my question is .. what speakers can I get that will give me a good sound?
Amp or no Amp? .. Is there anyone out there that can install and hide really well a set of 10"s in the back seat of a Canyon or Colorado Ext Cab?

Thanks

Have you looked into a cut-threw? Basicly the subs would be in the bed of the truck.. and if you pull your rear seats down u see em.. you need a hard top tunnel cover.. then you can get good bass out of your truck.. nobody would be able to see it unless u show them. Also when you put an alarm get the shop to install a sensor or w.e its called to protect the tunnel cover that way if someone tries to open it your alarm with go off.

also look at nice Pager alarms that way if it goes off you can see it without hearing it.

goodluck.

Thanks

I am not really into cutting out parts of my truck although I know a couple of people who have done this. They say they have nothing but headaches with this mod. It's a great idea but not for me.
