I picked up a set of Powerbass tweeters for $21 from work. I was skeptical to say the least. It turns out they are the BEST sounding tweeters I've ever had!
Has anyone else ever been suprised by inexpensive equipment such as this?

Pyle PA Speakers.
My dad for some unknown reason decided he would use two of them as subs in a bandpass box for home audio.. off of a 15 year old Hafler 500 at 4ohm final load.
Knocked every picture in the house off of the wall, knocked drywall mud loose in different rooms and could be heard from about half a KM away.
These have full range surrounds and about 1" of excursion, as to why they worked as subs I have no idea. They're not even recommended to play below 200hz. They were cut off at 100hz low pass.
Oh.. and they were also able to knock the enclosure around which weighed about 90-100lbs of 3/4" MDF
Edit: And they sounded awesome doing it, they weren't really deep but they just hit clean.

My second setup in my dads old Buick Century trunk - two Pioneer (diamond-plate shaped white cones) 170ish W 12's in a 2.5 cube NET sealed box had a nice warm sound, on a Scosche 220W amp. Great buy for $100 total - box, subs, wiring, and amp. I thought that low power, cheap subs, and a sealed box would be just as comparable as the setup before it - Xplod 10" in 1 cube sealed on the same amp. I was very wrong.
