Civic Problem

Can anyone tell me if the stock 93 civic electrical system can handle 500 rms amp because i installd a system 4 my friend and he told me that it drained his battery.

I just want to know if we should do the big 3 and upgrade the battery or should we just upgrade the battery.

hi..i'm new 03-15-2006 10:43 PM

my 92 civic takes 300w rms with ease and i'm about to add another 500w rms amp.. it shouldn't be a problem for stock honda alternators to keep up.. and when exactly did he notice the battery drain? did he try to start the car up a short while after and not get anything? perhaps when you were installing it you accidently shorted something without knowing it and killed one of the cells in your battery.. was putting the ground back on the battery the absolute last thing you did in the electrical department of the install?

Im shure everything is connected propery it was working fine after I finished installing everything, he didint really get to tell me anything in detail all he said that it drained his battery and that he had to it jump started and then he had to leave before I got to ask him more questions. The amp is a mtx 6500D and a single Kicker comp vr 12 sealed and 4 ga wiring.

you'll be fine with the stock battery and Alt, with only 500W...

if it's draining the battery, look for a short somewhere. Are the amps staying on for some reason? or possibly the battery is past it's time, if it's the original that's quite possible.

Ha..gotta luv lil 4clyinders. When I "unlock" the doors it affects my whole system, and I drive an 04 EL.

Should I use a lower rated inline fuse becuase the fuse that came with the amp wireing kit is 100a and the amp has 25a x3 fuses, should I replace it with 50a or 60a agu fuse.

This has been stated time and time again. the Fuse is not to protect your amps. it's there the protect the Power wire, and thats ALL. :retard: leave that one in there.

I know its not to protect the amplifier but I thought that the inline fuse was supposed to be fused at a lower rating just under what the amplifier draws.

Nope. it's there to protect the wire from exceeding it's maximum current draw, and that is all.
