McInstosh got bought out recently by the guys who own Marantz and Denon.
For what its worth, there is some shared DNA, but not much (the Power guard was on of the features). Hey, it isn't rocket science really. It's a Class A/B for gosh sakes. It's not like they are re inventing the wheel.
So even if they share some DNA (which they might)I doubht it means much in the grand scheme of things. The McIntosh is made in the USA, and the Clarion is not.
Clarion supposedly had a top of the line amp it is selling currently (the one with the digital display that doesn't look like any of the others) that was supposed to have been a McIntosh amp before they broke up the "band" so to speak.

i havent heard much about clarion... its out there but not as many people have it as say pioneer, alpine, kenwood, etc... so not too much reviews/feedback about their products... and yeah it probably wouldnt... it just make me want to get clarion products that were all mac internals if that was the case...
just so happened to come across it while helping a buddy out choosing an amp... 2004 clarion 4 channel (50x4) vs 2003 alpine 4 channel (non-v12 40x4)... same price point... which would u choose?
