Clarion pxw1552??

Just curious if anyone has heard the pxw1552's, I just ordered 2 in and a DPX11500 amp and just wondering how they will work? I am in Afghanistan right now, so I won't get to hear them for another month. I have always ran Rockford and MTX 10's so it's going to be a change to the 15's but haven't really seen a whole lot on the Clarions before.

You will be very happy. Nice gear and work well. I just wish the footprint of the amp was a little smaller. Other then that they work well.

What was the overall goal of the new system? There are lots of options on the table, the trick is to make your new investment work to the best of it's abilities for the goal. What have you done to the electrical system, alternator back and are you prepared to upgrade it to ensure that the new sub system works as expected.

On a side note, hats off to you and the job you are doing over there. I employ 3 military guys in my shop on a part time basis, one SARTECH and two Avionics Techs. I have many friends in the military and a couple that are on current rotation in Afghanistan.

It's going in a 2000 2 door Cavalier, running stock alternator w/1 battery. (will be upgrading alternator when I get home) Running 4g back to cap and amp with a Tsunami PP1002TM–CAP 2 farad capacitor. Head unit is a Pioneer DEH-P9800BT. Ordered in a ported box to fit both subs (have no more info on it as of right now)

Yes I am open to dropping $$ to get the best out of it, so suggestions are great. Leaning more to SPL than SQ

And thanks MR2NR

Stop the box. Bass response is all about THE box, not A box. Get the box custom built to the application for the best results. Bigger does not necessarily mean better / louder. There are many factors to consider here, starting with the choice of sub if SPL is the name of the game. Not to discourage you from what you have ordered, there is better and there is worse. As mentioned before though, the trick is to make it work in harmony the best it can. Pour $ into a custom box no matter what you do.

Roger that MR2NR, now building the box is not a problem for me, but the design of the actual box is where I come up short. Any suggestions on software that might be out there for designing? Just out of curiousity, how will these compair to the MTX 15" 9500's?

I see your from CFB Comox...know any of the Fire Fighters there?
