Offical 1x, 2x, 3x, and 4x events!

Does it cost more to host a show that's a 4x rather than a 1x?

I know for a typical 2x and 3x you pay twice as much and three times as much to register. Basically paying for your points right?

I don't understand why shows aren't ran by how many points you want to go for/pay for.

For example:

Registration time...
Dude A is a local and doesn't care about points. He pays the minimum registration fee (Say $20) for 1x points.

Dude B is goin' for gold and dishes out $60 for 3x points because he needs all he can get to go to worlds or what have you.

Is there more to it
(no flames, I just don't know haha! )

db drag
usaci
iasca
meca

All are different formats with different pricing structures but usually the more points for an event the higher the price. This is usually (or should be) because of a higher level of support from the sanctioning body.

Only worlds is a 4X event. The main reason they don't do it I believe is that dB Drag wants to see the competiors, who compete for points, support there organization by going to as many shows as possible.

Plus a 3X event is a lot more hasle, and I think it also costs more for the promoters, such as Ray Choy, to hold these shows. But you are right you are just buying points.

100 points = $250 in entry fees if you place 1st at every show Just something I thought to through in here.

i made this comment earlier....

http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/cgi/...c;f=9;t=000597

talking about how ray would have spent soo much money to get all the points he did. i don't want to complain, but it all does add up to a lot of dough in the end to collect points. you gotta pay for each and every one of em.

but yeah, the finals are expensive. $200US registration fees (for a driver and a "co-pilot"), you get a backpack full of goodies, and a pass to the finals for all 3 days, plus the 4X points..if you place! i thought that everone from 8th spot on would get at least 1 X4 pts for resistering in the event, but i got diddly squat for hitting a 148.7 in my qualif. round. it's like i wasn't even there....

Competition is addictive

Certain santioning bodies breed intense competitors, I know folks who do 2 shows a weekend (3 when possible)! I did that several times last year! LOTS of driving and $ but it was/ is a rush.
