Confused as to why my sub produces no sound
Hey all
I have a pioneer gm3000t amp bridged to a 10" jl sub in the trunk of my civic sedan. I wanted to try it in the backseat and see if that improved cab perception of the sq, which it didn't really, so I put it back in the trunk. Foolishly, I forgot to turn off my car while hooking it back up. With the ground cable already attached, I was screwing in the power cable when the screwdriver sparked on it and the sub hasn't made a peep since. The amp still turns on. Neither its fuse nor the fuse directly off the battery are blown. I unhooked everything and hooked it up again. With my limited knowledge, I can't see any reason why I'm getting no sound. Any ideas? Thanks, Jack |
Use a multimeter and check if you're getting voltage on the speaker wires, if not its in the power supply or in the amp. If you get voltage its the sub. Did you hear any sound from the sub when it shorted like a quick burp or something?

No quick burp or anything like that. Just silent. I talked to Crutchfield customer service today and they told me the same as you. I'll try that out tomorrow. Thanks.
