How effective is copper shielding on head units? Can it be used to shield cables and amplifiers (ie. C7) as well?

Curious to know what other implications could be made from copper in a car audio envirionment.

IMO the copper chassis offered on some decks is 99% cosmetic.

Actually, a copper chassis accomplishes 2 things:

1) It shields the unit cancelling some noise (fairly minimal)

2) It helps to the heat over the whole chassis -- making heat disipation more efficient (medium effectiveness) -- keeping the internal components cooler, helps to make the deck last longer.

So, I would say yes -- it is partially cosmetic; however, their are some real benefits as well.

Cosmetic no real improvement over stamped steel with all the holes for RCA cable, power supply cable, remote turn on wire, air vents, digital cable/ optical cable/ aux inputs etc.

As RC put it they are curing a problem that doesnt really exist. BUT man does it look cool!

It sure is purdy!
