I've trying a search for this but the question is too complicated -
I have 6.5 components in the front and 6.5 coaxles in the rear (CDT's) - plus a 10" enclosed sub (Boston Pro) all runing off a high current 4 ch amp. The front / rears are running off the front channels and the sub has the rear channels of the amp (Plenty of power).
The sub was just added and this set up has really destroyed the front imaging - the 6.5 rears are now too much when combined with the sub. I can't fade anymore (other than mid's to sub).
OK - finally the question. Is there anyway to reduce the power to the rear mids? Maybe a in-line resister or power reducer (I know, I'm reaching and I have no clue as to what I'm talking about). Or should I just remove the rears and use the front components and the sub? BTW, I would rather not add a monoblock - no space. Please help - much appreciated!!

OK - I'm using the factory H/U with a David Navone 4 ch LOC. In this situation, would I be able to use the factory deck to power the rears? Would it be as simple as wiring the decks factory fronts to the rear speakers?

 

I used to own a Boston Pro 12.5 and had a hard time getting it to blend with my front stage as well.
What type of amp are you using?
What is your crossover set at?

 

I don't think it's the sub that is causing the problem, at least not on it's own. I think its a combination of the rear 6.5's and the sub. If I can back off the rear speakers, I think all will be good. I have the sub pretty well where I want it - it's the rears I can't mess with because they are working off the same channel as the fronts.
BTW, the amp is a Visonik high current 50x4

 

Have you simply tried disconnecting the rear speakers?

 

Well that's the last option but I was hoping for others (waste of a good set of CDT coax speakers that were once doing an outstanding job of filling in the rear) - I'd really like to hear more about the L Pad, ie; where can I get one and how are they hooked up? Can anyone expand on this control unit?

what about a aftermarket deck???

easiest way to fix your problem i think would be to buy an aftermarket deck with seperate pre-outs for you sub (ie an option to adjust your sub volume) and if your still having probklems add another amp. you say your sub has lots of power? buy a smaller amp to run your speakers and use your original amp to run your sub. you should be happy with the results.
