crappy sound

a friend of mine sold me some infinity 6010s(componets) and infinity kappas62.7i(coax) for $250 which i thought was a very good deal.
i got them allhooked up in my car and i powered them with a phoenix gold 4 channel amp, model number: Octane-R 5.0:4. which i got from a co-worker
i am very unimpressed by the sound.
is it the amp? is that a very low end amp?

any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance

It is a basic amp but it is more than likely not the issue. The issue is going to be the speakers and how they are installed and setup for your use. More info is needed to draw a more accurate picture. What is the vehicle and where are the speakers installed. What cd player is used, subs etc...

Its all installed in a 350z
the deck is a panasonic CQ-c5305u
I have no subs running at the moment.
the overall quality of the sound is just crappy. My brother had a listen and thought it didnt sound right as well at loud levels.

Im wondering if its the tight space of the car, i dont know. its driving me nuts.

all the speakers are installed in the stock locations, in the door and directly behind the seats.
i tried fading the sound to the rears and it sounds quite weak. I know they are just a filler but i think it should be able to crank if i wanted to. In my old honda civic i had shittier speakers ($100 a pair brand new) and it sounded a hell of a lot better but they were all powered by a thunder mtx 4244. oh and the deck was a JVC kd sc500.

thanks for your help

sounds like you have a short or a mechanical issue with one of the drivers.
try eliminating each one induvidually and see if the sound improves, also i would check to see if the speakers are polorized, as in they are wired correctly, cus if one of them is backwards it would also sound like crap.
anyhoo ! have a great day

HAVE YOU CHECKED THE PHASING OF ALL THE SPEAKERS? infinity speakers are very bright, is that the issue? we need more info as to what " crappy " means

ok the best way i can explain it is when i turn up the volume the sound starts to distort at about 26 - 28. Sort of the same sound you get when you try and crank your speakers without an amp. Thats all i got.
