crossover/tweeter protection ?
 

ok,i have 2 sets of kicker components both the ks series ('06 models) 1 being the 6" size the other 6 & 3/4" size. my ? is as follows:

am i causing damage to my components (mainly tweets) when i have my crossover "light up" off and on in varying degrees of light intensity during some songs? when i see them light up i almost always turn it down to stop it from happening....but im not always driving at nite so....
the reason for asking is because my passenger side tweet sounds like it MAY be cutting in and out on occasion (on the slightly less wattage rated 6" driver set)
i am driving both sets properly, with true clean,undistorted sound (ie; pg m100 amp @ 2ohm's) gain matched below the rest of the system(on minimum gain...alpine 4v out/2vmax in on amp...but never go past half vol. on deck.
so, does it truely mean "danger zone" when crossovers light up spurratically,or am i just overly cautious? what have others found? i'd like 2 know your thoughts please....4 peace of mind!!!

hmm since you're feeding clean power at a reasonable volume level i find it quite odd...
double check your connections perhaps it could be something else
i would try lowering the treble levels to see if it still lights up or not
also try playing tracks with a lot of highs or clear loud vocals to see if you can
hear any imperfections and of course wether it still lights up or not

thanks adnan....i'll try lowering the trebble tomorrow, to say....neutral(currently i am running +4....out of 7 i believe) and see what difference that makes :) ya i kinda like it bright,cuts through the bass nicely.
so,does the crossovers lighting up mean danger...or is that kinda normal'ish? i realise most people hide away their networks,in doors etc. but some probably dont. let me know your your thoughts on this......

i have some visonik crossovers...i dont think they light up
if you have the owner's manual it would help explain what's the flashin light

The lights are gonna light up regardless of how 'clean' your power is. There is voltage, so they light up. On a 12v bulb, full intensity will be reached at about 37watts or so.

If they light on loud passages and go out otherwise, the bulbs are doing exactly their job. On all the time is bad but blinking is perfect.
