Okay, I got my system totally setup now.

2 forad capacitor
1000watt rms @ 2ohms alpine m.1000 amp
1000watt rms @ 2ohms 12" alpine type x sub

I bought a bassworx box and its all setup.. what I'm confused with is the LP, Gain and DB

I don't want to **** anything up.

First thing is we had better find out if the box is the right size or you will **** the sub right quick. What you need to do is measure the outside of the box and post them up. I will try to find out exactly what that sub wants to perform at its best and go from there. As for the LP set it to 80hz for now. Gain and DB should be turned right down to start with. If this is your only amp then what you do is put on a CD you know really well, then turn up the volume until you hear your front speakers start to distort then back down a bit. Then you will leave the volume there and slowly start to turn the gain on the amp up until either they distort or they blend with the fronts well. Then if you never exceed the volume you used to set it you will never have to worry about damaging anything. Let me know if you want any help with this.

Another issue is.. I'm trying to put new speakers in the door but I have no idea whats + or -.. even in the car's manual and the book that I bought at canadian tire won't tell me

 

Ok so I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that box will not work with your sub. Can you return it? Alpine says you need a 1.8cu' ported box. The box you have is give or take 2.8cu'. PM jalat to be sure as he is our box design guru here. What car is this going in? I will try to find the wiring diagram with the speaker wires you need for you. If jalat will design a box for you I can help build it. I am currently getting ready to do one he designed for me. The gain, LP, and DB check your other thread I gave you the best way to deal with them. Again if you want help I am here just ask.

The problem you are going to have is with the box being too big there is no air resistance to control the speaker from moving past its mechanical limit. This is one of the easiest ways to blow a sub. So the choice is basically do I want to spend $100 now to get the right box? Or do you want to spend much more in a few months to replace your blown sub. I would bet you will be astounded by the difference in the sound once it is in the right size box. I know this for a fact as I just went trhough it with my subs. They sounded okay but once they were in the right box they were easily 5x as loud and cleaner sounding as they weren't distorted at high volume. Do you have a garage or a buddy with one? For $50 in material we could whip out a box for you in a couple hours. I found this for you, should be all the wires you need for the audio for your car.
