Dd 2512a in sealed box

My buddy wants a dd 2512a, and wants it in a sealed 1.25 cube box. Anyone have experience with dd subs in sealed boxes? I've already told him a number of times to either go with a smaller sub in the right ported box, or with a sub designed for sealed application, but he's stubborn. Power is in the 1000 watt range. Thanks in advance.

Its not suggested, but I'm sure it'll produce sound.

Any reason he doesn't want a ported enclosure?

He's just stubborn. I told him to get a 2510a, and that would work better than a 12" in the wrong box, but he's dead set on a 12 and a dd 12 at that. If he wasn't a good guy, i'd just brush him off, but he asked me to find out if anyone has a dd set up in a sealed box...so i'm asking...oh, and he only likes sealed, says ported sounds crappy...idiot!

... it is a loudish sub that can sound pretty good to amazingly good in the right box.

I would suggest a ported enclosure because I know that DD doesn't 'suggest' sealed for there woofers. I'm sure it will perform alright in a sealed enviroment, but wont yeild the results a ported enclosure would.

1.8-2 cubic feet @ 36-40hz would be ideal.

Maybe if you showed him all these people reccomending a ported inclosure, it would persuede him to change his mind .

That's what I'm planning to do. For the space he has, in the small car he has, the 10" would rock in about the same size box..ported, but he wants sealed. I've even suggested going with subs that are great sealed performers like the ID max, Alpine type X, etc...but he want's a DD. Anyway, I said I'd ask, but I'm wasting too much time on it. Thanks for the replies.

Sealed = 1.2 cubes after displacement (I would suggest some bracing with that amount of power)

Ported = 1.8 after displacement @ 36hz

alright, so i showed him the posts and some info from Rob(MR2NR), and he got all defensive and pissed, and now thinks that we're all full of s**t and don't know anything...so, I wished him good luck and went my way. Sometimes, you just have to know when to give up on a losing cause!
