DD Headunit with Garmin GPS?
 

I was going to make payment for the head unit that I've always wanted to buy - Kenwood 8120 ($1400) However, I was toying with the idea of going with a slightly cheaper head unit but with Garmin GPS, and then pick up the rockford 3sixty.2 instead. Can anybody recommend a headunit (double din) with integrated garmin nav? It seems like only Kenwood makes DD HU with Garmin?

If I were to pick up the 3sixty.2, I'd only have a budget of 800 or so for the headunit.

Hmm...maybe Kenwood DNX7120? Still has the same Garmin Nav, but doesn't have built-in bluetooth, or 5V pre-out, or 13-band EQ, or extended warranty...but eh...

I am actually in the same boat as you are...7120? or 8120? If you add bluetooth to 7120, it's only 50 bucks cheaper than 8120...

I'm leaning towards the 8120. There's more than just BT difference between the 8120 and 7120. IIRC, the 7120 has slightly worse ipod support.

The only thing I don't really like about this deck is that:

1) the TA settings look very cheesy
2) doesn't seem like it has band pass xover..only high/low
3) I read that you have to mess around with the speaker size settings to get the right sound.

I'm looking for a DD unit that has garmin, has bandpass xover that I can run to the rear channel for my mid bass.

I guess you get what you pay for...and really, 8120 has so much more potential than 7120 in terms of customizing SQ...

And just for reference, I never looked at IPOD support...never owned one...:(

Actually I noticed that the 8120:

Rear High Pass Filter: Select between 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 120, 150, 180, 220, or 250 Hz at a slope of -12, -18, or -24 dB per octave; you can also select full-range

If I set the deck to send HP @ 100hz to the rear, and set my amp to low pass at 400hz, doesn't that make it a band pass of 100-400hz? Can someone confirm?

If that was the case, I'm grabbing the 8120 tomorrow. :D

That sounds right...in electronics engineering term...not sure how well the signals are going to be though...

Wait...doesn't 8120 have sub pre-out??

For the sake of $100 why not buy it from a CDN authorized dealer and get the 2 year warranty on it?
