Deck problems
 

i have a kvt 514 and its rms output is 50x4 = 200 rms and the new speakers im getting have a rms of 75 watt each times 4 is 300 rms . What should i do to get more power.

According to the specs page here, your deck does 50X4 max watts/channel. It actually does more like 20-22W/channel RMS and this is typical power for the built-in amp on most higher end decks.....:smokin:

If you want more than that you will need to get a power amplifier such as this one, also made by Kenwood. There are lots of other choices in 4 channel amps out there, but don't worry about the 300W rating on the speakers. If you actually fed them 300W they would rip your ears off just before they melted down.

50-100W per channel for your mids and highs is an excellent step up from deck power, if and when you add a sub or two you will need to amplify them as well.

i have a 1000 watt 2 channel kenwood amp powering a dual 12" 2 ohm alpine type r.
On my amp there connection for speaker wires.Do i hook my speakers to my amp? Or would it be better to get a 4 channel amp in the back with it.

(also have a second 12" sitting around cause my kenwood is a 500 rms and it matches my sub, so waiting till i get a more powerful amp too hook it up.My buddy told me that my amps good for 2 but i don't think he knows about rms or anything lol.

i was also told that my speakers are hooked up to my cars amplifier and i wood have to do a little work re wiring to the new one.

And i also have a 300 watt 4 channel amp sitting around too.
So my deck is 200 watts peak and i have an 4 channel amplifier 300 watts peak. Would that extra 100 watts make a difference ?
Or would i be able to use both for a 500 watt peak ???

use your 4 channel you have sitting around. you aren't going to be able to power speakers and sub off your 2 channel. keep it bridged, run your sub off of it, and run your speakers to your 4 channel.
it is almost gaurenteed to be an improvement over deck power which is maximium 22rms most likely.
and yes you will have to wire your speakers directly to the amp.

well it's listed at 22rms everywhere. kenwood is fairly respectable, so i think its safe to say they won't inflate the numbers to twice of what they really are.

What gage from battery to amp is good to use with a 300 watt 4 channel amplifier?

it all depends on what you plan to do in the future.
you would most likely be fine with 4gauge ...go bigger if you ever plan on upgrading though.
with what you are running, just run one large wire from batt => trunk, then use a distrobution block to send two power wires from there to the amps.

so you will have roughly 500rms + another 175ish for the 4 channel, so say 800rms to play it safe...over 12ish feet. 4 gauge should be good.
